"Teaching dance is more than teaching the steps." This is a philosophy I have lived by throughout my teaching journey. If we solely rely on the mechanics throughout our class and conduct our lesson by just applying steps to music, we have lost in translation what it truly means to create future artists. As an instructor I am responsible for more than just showing a dance style but rather connecting with dancers needs and personal goals. I honor their mind, body and spirit within each dance experience. "The dancer is not an instrument; the dancer is a person”, I choose lessons wisely and that means choosing a direction on how to conduct the final experience for them. My goal in each lesson is to give them more than technique but incorporate a well-rounded curriculum that shows them the aesthetic and kinesthetic meaning of it all. Patience and Compassion are essential for each student and taking the time to make a personal connection with everyone is what I aim for to make a profound impact. A happy dancer shows up, let’s transform the dance culture together!
